An exciting opportunity is on offer for an experienced Specification Supervisor to join a highly respected leading manufacturer with a long history of supplying mass produced product to the building industry. Based in the Clayton area and reporting to the National Sales Manager - Specification, you will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of the Specification Writing Team, who write approximately 120-200 projects per month. You will work closely with a team of BDM's who feed all of the work into the team so that your focus is on the specification function, allocation of work and team management.

Core duties include:

  • Overseeing and training the specification writing team across all metrics (6 staff)
  • Writing major projects and coordinating this function within the team
  • Ensuring all schedules are captured within the openings Studio platform as well as CRM
  • Managing the capacity of the National Specification writing team and allocate accordingly to ensure schedules are completed on time to meet client's deadlines
  • Ensuring schedules are accurate and compliant prior to sending to external parties.
  • Providing additional support as required
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Establishing and maintaining close business relationships with customers, suppliers (internal) and colleagues
  • Preparing reports as required

Skills and core requirements

  • Minimum 2 - 3+ years of experience in a similar level role
  • Ability to train and manage the workflow of a Specification team
  • Previous experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor will also be considered
  • Ability to read plans and write major project essential
  • Must have building product hardware knowledge
  • Some heavy lifting (products, parts, supplies etc), pushing and/or pulling, bending and/or carrying will be required in this role
