An exceptional opportunity is on offer to join Australian Camps Association (ACA) who are a not-for-profit, "for purpose" national peak body for camps and associated providers. They proudly develop, support and promote the delivery of camp experiences that provide positive community, social and personal outcomes welcoming all people, no matter their gender identification, age, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. Founded in 2005, ACA are a membership-based organisation providing advice and information on all types of camps and outdoor activities and they actively support people living with a disability.

Core responsibilities:

  • Administer the affairs of the affairs of the ACA on behalf of the Board in compliance with all appropriate national and state laws and regulations
  • Provide a superior and responsive level of service to members
  • In conjunction with the Board, and with the assistance of staff, achieve sound governance and efficient financial stewardship of the ACA and its resources
  • Develop and maintain efficient and responsive staff, and provide a safe and harmonious work environment which complies with all legislative requirements
  • Manage ACA resources to achieve the goals of the strategic plan
  • Lead and manage a team of staff and volunteers including recruitment, supervision and performance management
  • Oversee financial planning and daily management
  • Preparation of annual budget and strategic plans in conjunction with the board
  • Board reporting preparation and presentation
  • Preparation of annual reports
  • Identifying funding opportunities and preparation of grant applications
  • Overseeing the external audit process
  • Recruitment and induction of staff
  • Maintain strong relationships with government and other industry stakeholders
  • Represent and advocate on behalf of ACA on appropriate committees and bodies
  • Maintain effective communication across the business and to all members

Selection Criteria

  • Ideally you will have undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in business, community development or another related discipline and/or extensive experience in managing a not-for-profit organisation
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to effectively manage staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice principles
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to network and build strong working relationships with other Camping Associations both locally, nationally and internationally, government bodies and stakeholders
  • Strong financial and budgeting skills
