Seeking an experienced and passionate Employee Relations Advisor to work for a leading disability service organisation based in the Melbourne CBD, who through care and support work to provide quality services to people living with disability.

Utilising your strong management capabilities and employee relations knowledge, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring ER Advisers and providing strategic advice and support to management across the organisation to ensure employee relations issues are managed effectively.

Core duties include:

  • Providing strategic advice, support and coaching to management on performance, conduct, disciplinary, grievance, and bullying/harassment issues.
  • Undertaking investigations on complaints about staff and staff grievances.
  • Providing advice on and managing industrial relations issues; such as, negotiations on enterprise agreements, salary, compliance and unfair dismissal claims.
  • Initiating and leading Human Resources projects, including the development of a new ER policy.
  • Providing consultancy to management to assist with the effective introduction of structural change including redundancies.
  • Facilitating formal mediations.
  • Facilitating the development of contracts of employment and other internal legal documentation.

Core requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (ER or HR).
  • Proven ER/IR experience or a generalist HR professional with a specific interest in IR/ER.
  • Previous experience in disability, community service, health or the not-for-profit sector ideally sought.
  • Experience in team supervision/management.
  • Strong understanding of the Fair Work Act and other relevant employment related legislation.
  • Experience with Award and Agreement interpretation.
  • Practical experience in providing strategic advice and assistance in industrial relations.
  • Project management experience is desired.
