Welcoming Adrian Roberts, General Manager at BWS Recruitment

​BWS Recruitment is pleased to welcome Adrian Roberts to the team as our new General Manager, supporting both BWS Recruitment as we continue to grow and evolve.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, Adrian brings unique expertise across executive search, permanent and temporary/contract recruitment. Having Adrian join our team marks an important step forward for both brands as we look to build on our foundations and strengthen the way we support our clients across Australia.

We sat down with Adrian to get his story. We hope you enjoy this introduction to our newest team member.

Why BWS Recruitment

For Adrian, the decision to join BWS Recruitment was shaped by reputation and values.

Having spent his career in the recruitment sector, he was drawn to the strong heritage of both businesses and their long-standing commitment to ethical recruitment, particularly for small and medium enterprises.

The General Manager role offered an opportunity to bring together his leadership experience with hands-on recruitment knowledge, while contributing to the next phase of growth across both brands.

A leadership approach grounded in listening

Throughout his career, Adrian has worked with a range of leaders and teams, and one principle has consistently shaped his approach: listening.

Adrian believes that strong leadership starts with an understanding of different perspectives and creating alignment around a shared direction. In his view, he says, meaningful outcomes are achieved through collective effort, clear strategy and consistent execution, while remaining flexible enough to adapt when conditions change (as they inevitably do!).

This balance between structure and agility is something Adrian sees as essential in today’s recruitment landscape.

Early priorities and a client focus

In his first few months, Adrian’s focus is on getting to know the business from the inside out.

That includes understanding the strengths that have made BWS Recruitment a trusted partner to many Australian businesses for many years, as well as learning more about the clients who have built long-term relationships with both the WellsGray Recruitment and BWS Recruitment brands.

Understanding what those clients need now, and how we can continue to support them as markets and workforce expectations shift, will be a key priority. Adrian has also acknowledged the importance of the team behind the brands and the role our people play in delivering consistent, high-quality service.

As he puts it, our people are central to what makes the business work.

A people-first and purpose-led leadership style

Adrian describes his leadership style as collaborative and adaptable, with a strong emphasis on open communication. He believes in empowering teams through trust rather than hierarchy, and in creating an environment where people feel supported to do their best work.

While data plays an increasingly important role in decision-making, Adrian balances this with people-led insight, ensuring commercial outcomes are achieved with empathy and long-term thinking.

His focus is on building a culture where individuals feel valued, motivated and connected to the work they do.

Looking ahead

What Adrian says excites him most about the role is the opportunity to build something meaningful over time, alongside a team with strong industry knowledge and a clear ethical vision.

He believes in personal accountability and is motivated by the idea of looking back in years to come and seeing what has been achieved collectively.
