Introducing Debbie Ewington

Posted on 28 July 2025

Meet our newest member of the Becks Wiggins Stokes team

We’re thrilled to welcome Debbie Ewington to the Becks Wiggins Stokes team as our newest Principal Consultant. With a career that blends sharp financial insight and a deeply human approach, Debbie brings a thoughtful, values-driven perspective to recruitment – a perfect match for the BWS Recruitment way of working.

From finance to for purpose

Before diving into recruitment, Debbie spent more than a decade working as a qualified CPA (certified practicing accountant) – which means she knows her way around a spreadsheet as confidently as she navigates a hiring brief. Her experience in both finance and the not-for-profit (NFP) sector gives her a rare dual perspective: operational smarts combined with a genuine passion for purpose.

“My background includes finance and NFP,” Debbie explains, “complemented by ten years as a CPA. That experience shaped my approach – focused, diligent, and collaborative. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the success of individuals and organisations alike.”

It’s that steady mix of strategy and empathy that makes Debbie such a natural fit for the team, and one of the many reasons we’re so glad she’s joined us.

Drawn to purpose and integrity

What drew Debbie to BWS Recruitment wasn’t just our market reputation (although, let’s be honest, we don’t mind a little recognition). For her, it was our values – and the way we live them.

“I was drawn to Becks Wiggins Stokes because of its strong reputation in the recruitment industry, particularly its values-driven approach and commitment to building long-term partnerships with clients and candidates,” she says.

It was the emphasis on integrity, personalised service, and genuine care that resonated most. “Joining a team that prioritises people and professionalism was important to me. BWS stood out as a place where I could contribute meaningfully while continuing to grow.”

Recruitment with care

Debbie will be focusing on recruitment across the accounting and not-for-profit / for-purpose sectors, areas where her background and passion intersect beautifully. Her ability to balance the technical with the human means she’s always looking beneath the surface, understanding not just what a role requires, but who will thrive in it.

“I bring a thoughtful, relationship-based approach and take the time to understand each organisation’s needs,” she says. “I hope to add value through consistent, reliable work and by supporting clients and candidates with care and integrity.”

In short: she’s all about the right fit – not just on paper, but in real life.

A balanced perspective

What sets Debbie apart isn’t just her financial background (though that’s certainly handy). It’s also her creativity. In fact, she’s currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art at RMIT – because who says you can’t be both analytical and imaginative?

It’s a combination that serves her well.

“My background as a CPA, along with a longstanding interest in art, gives me a balanced approach to recruitment,” she says. “The financial and analytical experience helps me understand operational challenges, while my creative interests keep me open, curious, and attuned to people.”

Whether she’s interpreting an organisation’s culture or recognising the unique potential in a candidate, Debbie brings insight, intuition and a touch of artistry to the process.

Life outside the office

Outside work, Debbie is often found soaking up inspiration in Melbourne’s galleries, spending time in nature, or enjoying good company with family and friends. She’s currently immersed in the local art community and relishing the creative stretch of returning to study.

“If I weren’t working in recruitment,” she reflects, “I’d be spending more time exploring my interest in art and creativity, or working in a role that combines people, purpose, and thoughtful problem-solving.”

We’re so pleased to have Debbie on board and can’t wait to see the impact of her thoughtful, people-first approach. If you're hiring in the NFP or accounting space – or simply want to connect – you can reach out to Debbie through Becks Wiggins Stokes at debbiee@bwsrecruitment.com.au
