Due to growth and internal promotion an exciting opportunity is on offer for an experienced OHS Manager to join a highly successful construction company based in the Northern suburbs. Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for the development, operation and improvement of the Occupational, Health & Safety and Quality systems for the organisation. Additionally, you will provide leadership and guidance in the promotion of a strong work safety culture that involves and engages all staff and contractors of the group. To ensure efficient and effective programs and measures are in place to ensure compliance with all relevant OH&S/QA Environment legislation and regulations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • OH&S, Quality and Risk Management
  • Continued development and promotion of a positive OH&S culture through regular communication and engagement with all staff
  • Identify, develop and implement programs, policies and procedures that provide for a safe and healthy work environment at all workplaces within the group
  • Ensure all incidents and accidents are efficiently and effectively reported
  • Manage and administer the group Integrated Management System and Safety Management System
  • Manage insurances, including claims handling, premiums and liaison with associated parties
  • Provide effective and meaningful reporting for OH&S, Quality and Environment
  • Undertake initial response and control all investigations of hazards & incident
  • Ensure the group is compliant with all legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements in relation to OH&S, Quality and Environment
  • Undertake internal audits as required, communicate findings and develop improvements plans
  • Manage and control external audits and certifications as required
  • Liaise with management and project staff, regulatory and certification bodies, external consultants and other relevant organisations in relation to auditing, certifications and compliance
  • Programs, Education & Training
  • Prepare and conduct internal training sessions for management, supervisors and workers as required for OH&S, quality and environmental practices, legislation, policies and procedures
  • Identify key training requirements and arrange external training where needed
  • Drive, plan and implement internal competency and training programs


KEY SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in OH&S with a minimum of a certificate IV in OH&S
  • Auditing qualification, lead auditor preferred
  • Training & assessment qualification
  • A demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal and Vic. OH&S legislation
  • Proven skill within hazard identification, assessment and risk management
  • Knowledge of accident investigation techniques including investigation, analysis and evaluation
  • Drivers Licence - travel is a requirement of the position
